At Ideal Stairlifts we understand you may have questions stairlifts so we have listed our most frequently asked questions. If you are unable to find the answer you are looking for here, then please contact us where one of our experienced advisers will do their best to answer your question.

The stairs have a little bend. Can I still have an Ideal Stair lift installed?
- Yes, that is not a problem! Our stairlifts have an automatic swivel seat option, and perform exceptionally in complex situations, meaning that we can install them on almost any staircase.
Does my staircase have to be altered significantly?
- Normally no, the stairlift will be manufactured to fit your staircase. The stairlift can also be fitted on either side of the staircase, depending on your requirements. You will be given advice on the best solution for your staircase.
What happens if there is a power cut whilst I am sat on the stairlift?
- The lift will continue to run because it is battery powered.
I have problems bending my knees and my staircase is very narrow. Is it still possible to install an Ideal Stairlift?
- Yes! You can still have an Ideal Stairlift fitted. There is the option of installing our stairlift with an automatic swivel feature which will allow you to travel up the stairs without bending your legs. The minimum stair width within which a stairlift can be installed is 700mm.
I rent a flat. Can I still have a stairlift fitted?
- Yes, although you may need to get permission from your landlord or the ultimate owner of the property.
Given that stairlifts are motorised, are they noisy?
- Our lifts are very quiet.
Will my walls be damaged by the installation of the stairlift?
- No. The unit is fixed to the stairs and the landings.
Is there any form of financial support for buying stairlifts?
- Yes. Financial assistance is available but you need to contact your local authorities.
Is there a guarantee that covers the stairlift?
- Yes. All units carry 12 months warranty.
